Cancel a paid subscription or delete your account

Two very different actions, in the same place, with different consequences.

Short answer

Cancelling a subscription stops future billing and leaves your account and work intact. Deleting your account permanently closes it. Both are in the Account tab; deletion requires typing DELETE to confirm.

These are two different things and people often mean the first when they click the second. The difference is worth thirty seconds.

Cancel a subscription

  1. Open the Account tab.
  2. Find your subscription details.
  3. Cancel.

Your subscription runs to the end of the period you already paid for, then stops. Your account stays open and your work stays where it is — your public profile becomes inactive when the paid period ends, exactly as it would at the end of a free year.

If your goal is only to stop being publicly visible, unpublish instead. That is reversible in one click and does not touch billing at all.

Delete your account

  1. Open the Account tab and find Privacy & data.
  2. Before you do anything else, use Download My Data. It is the only copy you will get.
  3. Choose Delete My Account.
  4. Read what you are told. CardCloser offers you billing management first, because most people who click Delete want to stop being charged rather than lose their work.
  5. Type DELETE to confirm.
  6. Confirm.

Deletion is permanent. Your profile, brand, listings, results, testimonials and uploaded media are removed. There is no undo and no restore-from-backup on request.

Take your data first

Download My Data produces a JSON file with your account, profile, brand, listings, results, publication history, billing summary and a list of your uploaded media. Download it before deleting, not after.

What survives deletion, and why

A small number of records are retained because CardCloser is reasonably required to keep them: evidence that a version of the Terms was accepted, and billing records for tax and accounting purposes.

Where retained, they no longer point at you — the account reference is removed. The Privacy Policy is the authoritative description of what is kept and for how long.

If this doesn't work

Deletion reports that it did not finish.
You can try again. The process is designed so that nothing already completed is repeated, and the message tells you what stalled.
You cannot find the cancel control.
You may not have a paid subscription. During a free year there is nothing to cancel — no card was collected.
You changed your mind after cancelling.
Resubscribe from the Account tab. Your work is still there.
