I cannot publish my profile
What to do when the publish control is disabled or publishing fails.
Short answer
A disabled publish control means something required is missing or your access has ended. Publishing that errors is different — reload and try once more, and tell us if it fails again.
There are two different problems here. This article is about the control failing. If you want to understand why a profile is private in the first place, Why your profile is not public is the one you want.
The control is disabled
CardCloser disables publishing when it would not work. Two things cause it:
- Open the Profile tab and read the setup guide. It names any of the five required items still outstanding.
- Save. A field that is complete on screen but unsaved counts as missing.
- Open the Account tab and read Plan & access. If your free year has ended, publishing is unavailable until you continue on a paid plan.
Publishing errors
- You get an error message when you publish.
- Reload the Portal and try once. A single failure is usually a dropped request rather than a broken account.
- Publishing appears to work but the link shows nothing.
- Wait a moment and reload the public page. If it persists past a few minutes, tell us.
- Your session expired.
- Sign in again. An expired session cannot publish, and reloading is what surfaces that.
- It fails every time.
- That is a real defect and we want to know. Use Report a problem with what the error said.
The five required items
For reference, publishing needs all of these:
- Your full name — first and last.
- Your professional title.
- Your primary market.
- One public contact method.
- Your professional photo.
Everything else is optional. You do not need listings, testimonials or results to publish. Adding them afterwards never takes your page down.
What to include if you report it
- What the publish control looks like — disabled, or active but failing.
- What Plan & access says.
- The exact error message, if there was one.
- A screenshot, if you can take one.
