Why your profile is not public

Every reason a CardCloser profile is not visible, and what to do about each.

Short answer

There are four reasons: something required is missing, you have not published yet, you unpublished, or your access has ended. The Portal tells you which one applies, and each has a different fix.

Four things have to be true for your profile to be public. The Portal tells you which one is not, but here they all are in one place.

1. Something required is missing

CardCloser requires five things before it will publish:

  • Your full name — first and last.
  • Your professional title.
  • Your primary market.
  • One public contact method — a phone number or a public email.
  • Your professional photo.

The setup guide names the ones still outstanding. Fix them and the publish control becomes available.

2. You have not published yet

A complete profile is not automatically public. Publishing is a deliberate act — choose Publish My CardCloser.

3. You unpublished it

Check the Account tab, in Privacy & data. If it says Already private, your profile is unpublished. Publish again from the Portal.

4. Your access has ended

If your free year has ended and you have not continued on a paid plan, your public profile is inactive. Everything you built is intact and editable; the public page is switched off until you reactivate.

See What happens when your free year ends.

Access decides publication, not payment. There is no pay-to-publish gate during your free year — publishing is included for the whole 365 days.

Still not sure which applies

  1. Open the Account tab and read Plan & access. It states your status and, if relevant, your end date.
  2. Open the Profile tab and check the setup guide for outstanding items.
  3. Preview your profile — if Preview looks right, the problem is publication rather than content.

If this doesn't work

Everything looks complete but publish is still disabled.
Save first. An unsaved required field is complete on screen and empty in the record.
The profile is published but the link 404s.
Check you are using the right address — see Share your CardCloser link.
None of these explain it.
Tell us. Use Report a problem and include what the Portal says — this is exactly the kind of case worth investigating.
